Aspergers Social Skills Group:
Many people with Asperger syndrome want to be sociable but have difficulty with initiating and sustaining social relationships which can make them very anxious and can lead to isolation and loneliness.
Do you believe that you or someone you know has Aspergers Syndrome?
People with Aspergers Syndrome have difficulties in three main areas:
- Social communication
- Social interaction
- Social imagination
“I have difficulty in picking up social cues, and difficulty in knowing what to do when I get things wrong”
Social Skills Group
Crossroads Care Cheshire East provide social skills groups for adults and children with Aspergers to enable them to improve their social skills and meet others with similar difficulties and strengths.
The groups are managed by Crossroads Care Cheshire East, with individual group sessions facilitated by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist. There is an open referral process and the service is free to those with Aspergers and their families.
The benefits of this service are not only to improve the social skills, confidence and independence of the adults or children attending, but also to offer essential breaks to families and carers.
How do I join?
- Contact: Crossroads Care Cheshire East
- A Speech and Language Therapist will then contact you to find out what you and your carer would like you to gain from attending the group
- You will attend the group on a monthly basis along with others with Aspergers Syndrome
Crossroads Care Cheshire East has social skills groups for different ages:
- Adults 18 years or over
- Young people 11-18 years
- Children 8-11 years
Due to demand we are now looking to secure funding to support a group for younger children 5-8 years.
